We were batty for bats on Friday the 13th!

We had a great time with our special guest Steph Stronsick from the Pennsylvania Bat Rescue and her two bat friends. Steph enthralled us with an informative discussion about our region's bats, their importance to our ecological and environmental balance, and the challenges the bat population faces in the current client. In addition to sharing the impact of bats on our environment, Steph encouraged us all to attract bats to our neighborhoods through the use of bat houses. After the discussion, Steph brought out two bats - one a big brown bat (which is an oxymoron because they are actually quite small) and a hoary bat.
